The Muirhead Tower project involves the £25 million refurbishment on the 1971 Arup Associates landmark at the University of Birmingham. The project has involved the full external and internal remodelling to house the Schools of Social Sciences and Humanities.
Ian Barker, the university’s Director of Estates, said: “This project was about restoring one of the university’s most important buildings for the 21st century. The design keeps the façade, as designed by Sir Philip Dowson, but completely transforms the interior to create a space that is functional but also beautiful.”
We used the Gustafs paneling in the café and lecture theatre as we consider this a high quality product. The sharp lines and flexibility of the system enabled us to realize the desired aesthetic.
