A fire-safe choice
Depending on the local fire safety regulations, demands may vary from country to country around the world. Gustafs Panel System® meets the fire regulations and demands for public localities such as schools, meeting rooms, concert halls, hotels, airport terminals and other similar public meeting places. The system has been tested and certified at a national level in most European countries, Asia and the United States. Current national certificates can be obtained in pdf-format from this website.
The panel surface is fire-safe and does not contribute to the surface spread of flames. Gustafs Panel System® has a low level of smoke development and minimal hazardous gas emissions. Panels which are perforated or slotted are complimented with mineral wool backing to eliminate the possibility of ignition behind the panel.
The fire retardant properties of the BF-Panel (Cellulosa Gypsum) are not reliant on chemical treatment; instead it is the mechanical composition of all the details which create the end result. In all other wood or fiber based materials an environmental friendly fire retardant is used.
Euroclass B
Since this common standard for building materials is now implemented it basically means that all building materials that are manufactured and sold in the EU are subject to the Euroclass system. This in turn identifies their fire preventive properties and helps indicate their suitability for building application.
The system is divided into various classes in accordance to the following:
|
A1 |
Non-flammable materials |
No contribution to fire |
|
A2 |
Non-flammable materials |
No noticeable contribution to fire |
|
B |
Flammable |
Little or no contribution to fire |
|
C |
Flammable |
Limited contribution to fire |
|
D |
Flammable |
Contributes to fire |
|
E |
Flammable |
Major contribution to fire |
|
F |
Flammable |
Not within classes A1-E |

Gustafs FireA
Gustafs Panels System® consists of several high quality products. To meet the market demands it is necessary to be in the absolute front line and have the right products at the right moment. As a result of the increasing demands for fire proof products, Gustafs developed a special panel called “Gustafs FireA” that achieved classification A2, which means that the panel has no contribution to fire.
However the classification system has additional information worth considering. One important issue is the development of smoke, another is if the panel will create droplets when exposed to fire. This means that by only looking at the “A2” you will be given just half of the truth. Gustafs panels, type BF-Panels have, in accordance with the Euroclass system, achieved classification A2-s1, d0.
A2 The panels have no contribution to fire.
s1 The panels contribute little or insignificantly to the development of smoke.
d0 The panels do not create flaming particles or droplets when subjected to fire.
Standard panels don’t burn
Gustafs Panels System® achieved the highest class for flammable materials. Gustafs panels, type BF-Panels have, in accordance with the Euroclass system, achieved classification B-s1, d0. As mentioned above, the classification system has additional and important information worth considering.
B The panels contributes little or insignificantly to fire.
s1 The panels contribute little or insignificantly to the development of smoke.
d0 The panels do not create flaming particles or droplets when subjected to fire.
Protects underlying constructions
Escape corridors and roof structures have high demands for the use of fire retardant materials. It is of little help however if the non-combustible wall or ceiling cladding conveys heat to structures and facilities behind the surfaces which results in the spread of fire. Claddings with K110/K210 for example protect the underlying constructions in the event of fire.
Consequently, approval of cladding materials is always associated with an installation system or method. The Gustafs Panels System® employs Capax as an integral part of its installation and is approved to classification K110/K210.
